Basic Structure
Beginner Level 1B (Continuing Students)
Day of Week: Sunday & Wednesday
How many weeks? 10 weeks | 20 classes
Class Times: Wednesdays 4:30pm & Sundays 3pm est
Commitment: Meets 2 times a week. 10 consecutive weeks per course. 20 total live/online sessions within the course. class meets for at least 60 minutes, sometimes 90 minutes depending on the subject and student questions.
Course Information
This Kriolu Language course is a beginner’s level language training course for learning the language, giving a historical and cultural context in addition to basic notions of the language itself. We teach the Santiago variant.
Course Objectives
- Introduce the origin and cultural plurality of Cape Verde (West Africa).
- Plant the interest and curiosity about our African heritage and a broader understanding of its spectrum.
- Make it easy and accessible to approach the learning of a new language.
We hope that the student feels familiar with basic concepts of language and culture and is able to be evaluated on what he/she/they learned during the course.

Students Will Learn
Students will recap from BL1A. Additionally, students will learn conjugation, parts of speech, sentence structure, forming long sentences, parts of the body, At the mall/At the Market- Parts of clothing and student will learn various supermarket items, build more Kriolu vocabulary, and become better speakers of this language. Student may have a guest speaker in the final class as well.

Activities to include role play, song, and pronunciation.
Students Will Receive:
1). Access to our whatsapp room to practice speech and get updates on homework and lessons – working with your instructor and classmates
2). E-Flash Cards for Vocabulary words
3). Weekly homework
4). Student Interactive Workbook
5). Weekly handouts from lesson
6). Quiz & Test to ensure you are learning
7). All live Classes are recorded and all registered students within the course will receive the 2 videos weekly. Please note recordings are available for up to 7 days after each session, not for the duration of the 10 week class.
Additionally, for any courses we recommend that you add Tutoring to maximize your language experience.

Student Experience & Evaluation
The evaluation will be made at the end of the course in order to understand how much of the content has been assimilated and the possible need for clarification or reinforcement. Student might receive assessments and/or quizzes throughout the semester. Attendance and participation in classes will also have a bearing on your final experience.
