Learn to Build Bubi, Not Simply Memorize It
Bubi has its own sound system, grammatical patterns, noun classes, verb structures, and ways of expressing relationships between people and things. This course helps learners begin recognizing those patterns so that individual words can grow into meaningful communication.
From Words to Living Language
Recent Bubi instruction with Baba Dr. Justo Bolekia Boleká has explored greetings and responses, Bubi sounds, singular and plural forms, noun classes, numbers, the verb “to be,” practical verbs, and the construction of complete expressions. This course gives learners additional space to practice, reinforce, and use those building blocks through continued live instruction with Böhulá.

Cultural Context
Language Carries More Than Words
Bubi, also known as Ëtyö, is an indigenous language of Bioko Island. Language study at Resplendence includes the cultural context that gives words meaning: people, place, relationships, traditions, history, and expressions of identity.
Learners may encounter language connected to family, community, everyday life, places, cultural practices, and ways of understanding the relationship between past and present.
Seven Weeks to Listen, Practice & Build
Learn directly with Böhulá in a real time online classroom.
Hear Bubi and practice producing the language aloud.
Understand patterns instead of relying only on memorized phrases.
Learn language alongside its connection to Bioko Island and Bubi heritage.
Miss Something? Review the Class.
A recording of each live class will be made available to enrolled students for
up to 7 days after that class is held.
Use the recording to revisit pronunciation, review new vocabulary, repeat sentence patterns, or catch material you want to hear again.
Recordings are provided for temporary student review and are not intended as permanent downloadable course materials.
For Learners Ready to Go Deeper
This course is especially suited for adults seeking greater familiarity with Bubi language and culture, including heritage learners, returning students, learners who have participated in a Bubi Masterclass, and students who want structured practice with the foundations of the language.
Speak it. Hear it.
Experience it.
Join Böhulá beginning Saturday, October 17 for seven weeks of live Bubi language learning, practice, cultural connection, and continued discovery of the language of Bioko Island.
