This six-week cultural immersion, led by Gambian-born educator and storyteller Bakary, brings together the everyday beauty, oral tradition, and shared wisdom of the Mandinka and Fula peoples.
Whether you are exploring your ancestral roots or simply curious about language and life beyond borders, this course offers a journey through story, speech, lifestyle, and lineage. You will learn not only vocabulary, but values woven through real life experience, reflection, and rhythm.
What You Can Expect to Learn:
- Speaking: Learn greetings, introductions, and conversational basics in Mandinka and Fula (Fulakunda dialect).
- Vocabulary: Weekly themed words rooted in lifestyle: land, family, herd, unity, food, water, ceremony.
- Listening: Hear true stories of daily life, origin tales, and oral proverbs from both traditions.
- Cultural Highlights: Bakary will share personal photos, wisdom from his grandmothers, and behind-the-scenes customs that shaped his dual lineage.
