About Bubi Origins

Bubi is one of Africa’s enduring island languages, spoken by the Bubi people of Bioko. The language carries the heartbeat of ancestral memory, earth stewardship, and community identity that has shaped the island for generations. Its expressions, rhythms, and structure reflect a worldview built on respect, connection, and a deep sense of belonging.

Bubi Origins honors this legacy by providing an accessible introduction to the language and culture through a seminar-style experience led by Dr. Justo Bolekia Boleká, the world’s foremost scholar and one of the most celebrated native speakers of Bubi. His teaching weaves linguistic clarity with cultural insight, offering learners a rare opportunity to engage with authentic Bubi knowledge at the source.

Seminar Format

The next Bubi Origins cohort will follow Dr. Bolekia’s signature seminar model:

• 3 sessions total

• 1 hour per session

• $99 total for all 3 sessions

• Interactive, culturally grounded, and beginner-friendly

• Live online via Zoom

This format allows learners to experience Bubi language and culture with depth and focus while maintaining a flexible, accessible schedule.
